Guillaume Brière’s visual signature is a blend of graphic impact and naive attitude
The idea behind the collaboration was to create a series that blends both mine and Sandrine’s personal styles. The result is Rosebuds, a surreal garden of blooming lips that seem to whisper and sing to each other.
I was inspired by beauty advertising photography from the 80’s — the golden era of glamour. Using black as the background exaggerates the glossy finish of Sandrine’s images. And although it’s important to me that these images feel relevant, I balanced glamour with the childishness of hand-drawn stems, something that feels almost accidental.
Serge Lutens’ work for Shiseido served as inspiration for the composition and colour palette.
